Governor Prepares Decent Housing for Kunir Village People

Just pray that the construction will be on time, with the right quality, and at the right cost

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, inaugurated the declaration of the Kampung Susun (elevated village) construction in order to accommodate 33 households of Kunir Village, in Pinangsia, Taman Sari, West Jakarta.

At that time, he was accompanied by City Secretary, Marullah Matali; Public Housing and Settlement Agency Head, Sarjoko; West Jakarta Mayor, Yani Wahyu Purwoko and his staff.

"We often meet with situations where to carry out a big interest, it has an impact on people's livelihoods. It happens everywhere. What we are working on now is ensuring justice exists, ensuring protection is provided, and ensuring that citizens have the right to have decent housing," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Thursday (10/14).

He said that the Jakarta administration was committed to realize it. It could not be separated from the government's desire that its residents have housing to build their future, especially for Kunir Village people.

"Previously we have completed it in the Kampung Aquarium. Certainly you know that, moreover we had done a groundbreaking last year. We want to feel the same for Kunir Village people. You (Kunir Village people) will soon be able to live in a proper house in August next year," he added.

In addition, he explained that the concept of the Kampung Susun development involves various parties thus the design is in accordance with the needs of the residents who will occupy it. Besides that, the concept that was carried out was not just a house for each family, but a village concept.

According to him, a village is a community that is not just a building, but an interaction that makes a community alive and unique.

"The concept is maintained with an appropriate design. Therefore, we thank the team who have designed this place according to the location setting. Beside the river, there is a fairly large common room. Meanwhile, on the ground floor, there is an interaction room in the lobby. It will all maintain the village situation in an apartment. Just pray that the construction will be on time, with the right quality, and at the right cost," he stated.
